WordPress 3.0 released

Rev 15272, 2010-06-17 17:59:07 UTC

The longer awaited version 3.0 has just been released. The official release announcement is still pending (UPDATE: WordPress 3.0 “Thelonious” – Matt Mullenweg) but the wordpress 3.0 zip download is already available and the donwload counter has been reset (UPDATE: now a second time).

I can not suggest to switch over to 3.0 right away, that needs some more testing I must admit. The new version ships with a lot of new code I prefer to let settle a bit first. For 3.0.1 some fixes are already queued up (they were moved from the 2.9 branch over today) and most importantly, 3.0 ships with a lot of new code in the somehow fragile codebase.

But without any doubt, even if wordpress 3.0 turns out to be not technically that well, it is a very important release for the project. The merge was need to be done, so here we are. Now there is space again for the things that all needed to step back in January. Finally!

I stop over here as it start’s to get countless. And too much cheer-leading for my taste.

      What? Really? – Haha. 😀

On this site I do not need to care about the code. You know that can be nice, but friday last week, you know… 🙂

My main grudge against wp 3.0 is that the admin ui doesn’t work on my iPad. 😉

Oh. Hardly to imagine that Jane Wells from the UX department missed that one, but you can always checkout WP for Iphone OS that is crippled but should work on Ipad as well, right? ^^
